Walk for Action on Global Warming

Vermonters Walking Toward a Clean Energy Future is a five-day walk from Ripton to Burlington August 31–September 4. With a community Conversation on the Green at every town and a political address at City Hall Park, with hopes to focus the public's attention on the urgency of global warming and spark political action, led by noted Vermont author Bill McKibben. Consider walking your local leg of the route Ripton-Middlebury-Vergennes-Charlotte-Shelburne-Burlington, attending the local talk on the green in each town, or if you can only attend part of the journey, consider the Shelburne Farms to Burlington leg and the rally at City Hall Park in Burlington from 1-3pm on Labor Day, September 4. Detailed schedule on their website. (Thanks GMD)

two new mats!

You'll notice two new mats available in the studio store, also available online in the Saka Store. The Saka Royal Violet Yoga Mat is an alternative to the popular (and backordered) Premium Black Yoga Mat. It has a simliar composition, but is standard mat width (24 inches vs. 26) and notably lighter at around 4-4.5 lbs and an excellent value at $52.

We are also happy to introduce the new Saka Winterberry Yoga Mat. Double the thickness of our standard studio mats they give a little more cushioning, but the same great durability and washability.

These are the perfect days of summer, bright sun, clear sky, the days you want to remember when walking barefoot in the grass seems so far away. Gave the brand new most fabulous Saka Pinda Backpack a test drive on the bike path yesterday. Packed it with a mat, camera, ipod and towel and took off down to the lake.

heat+you+yoga=your own mat

Yes, its super hot here in Burlington and it's time to say a few words about studio mats. Students attending classes at the studio MUST purchase their own mats and bring them to class. It doesn't matter if you buy a cheap one, a great one, or borrow one from a friend... just bring your own. Yes, we do have some mats to borrow at the studio. Those are intended for new students and for students who forget theirs on rare occasion. Anyone attending their second class or beyond, it is essential you invest in your own mat, put your name on it and bring it to class.
